Matt Wainhouse is a high calibre boardist from the PNW. He runs with a crew of like-minded individuals and they've all got a knack for documenting one another's exploits, even if it's only on the fly with their iphones. This is Matt's submission to The Snowboard NW Film Fest and it gives an amazing sense of what it would be like to roll around Stevens Pass and the rest of...

"Midway through a dry season, with scraggly trees, icy slopes, and hardly any base, Mount Baker suddenly finds itself consumed by the chaos of the year' biggest storm-- unleashing several feet of snow every night for ten straight days. Plows work around the clock to keep order, but still the ditches fill with battered cars fallen victim to the heavy drifts.

The bike I’m riding is sliding sideways on an ice-glazed road in backwoods Washington. I get a glimpse of Mount Rainier in the distance but it looks impossibly far away, especially after I hit the asphalt and get pinned under my ride. This is no isolated incident…moments earlier, my buddy just “Brian Boitano’ed” his bike into a 345 degree spin across the ice before putting it down in the ditch....

Hellbent on backcountry skiing, brothers Mike & Andy Traslin have been earning their turns every month of the year for the last 95 months in a row. They're not alone, especially in the Pacific Northwest where a string of glaciated volcanoes make it pretty reasonable to score turns any time of the year. Sometimes it pours rain, sometimes it's so damn hot you're regretting not being at the...

"With over 10 feet of snow in 10 days, conditions were ripe to do some helicopter avalanche control work above the backside of Stevens Pass on February 26, 2014. Here's a behind the scenes look at the avy control process and stunning video of a massive slide in all its terrible glory." Look at this Beast! She's beautiful from a distance, but it's hard not to think about what it would be like to be caught in the belly of a monster like this. This is a great shot though, filmed from the perfect vantage point. And the people around Stevens Pass will be stoked that they have some new gladed terrain once things settle out.

Very few people get to hop on a heli once a year in Haines Alaska and ride the worlds most magical mountains. This Kid and his his crew are taking a freestyle background and leeting it loose on the sick terrain that Stevens Pass has to offer. I had a chance to shred with Matt in Whistler at the beginning of this season and I know he was especially devastated by the tragic avalanche that happened down in Stevens Pass. So this is Matty and his crew moving forward and doing what they love in honour of...
